Traditional Sand Finish Stucco

Traditional sand finish stucco is a durable, cement-based exterior wall finish characterized by its uniform, lightly textured appearance created by natural sand aggregates. Applied as the final coat in a stucco system, it provides a classic, timeless look with a subtle grain that adds depth and visual interest while maintaining a clean, consistent surface. The finish is neither overly smooth nor heavily textured, making it suitable for a wide range of architectural styles, from traditional and Mediterranean homes to contemporary buildings. Known for its weather resistance, longevity, and low-maintenance qualities, traditional sand finish stucco offers an attractive, durable exterior that helps conceal minor surface imperfections while enhancing the overall character of the structure.

Synthetic Finish Stucco

Synthetic finish stucco is a modern exterior wall coating designed to look like traditional stucco but made with synthetic materials instead of mostly cement. It is typically composed of acrylic resins, polymers, and fine aggregates that create a durable, flexible surface layer applied to the outside of buildings. Why we choose Synthetic Finish Stucco over your Traditional Sand Finish Stucco

Synthetic stucco finishes are preferred over traditional sand-finish stucco in Arizona since they handle the desert climate much better. Arizona’s extreme heat, intense UV exposure, and large day-to-night temperature swings cause traditional cement-based stucco to expand and contract, which commonly leads to cracking over time. Once those small cracks form, they can allow moisture from monsoon rains to seep in, leading to staining or longer-term damage, Paint fading making it look old. Synthetic finishes, which use acrylic-based materials, are more flexible and can move with the building as it expands and contracts, making them much more resistant to cracking. They also tend to be less porous, so they shed water more effectively during storms and hold up better against fading from the sun. Synthetic finish has the paint already integrated compared to sand finish where you have to paint the home. Overall, synthetic finishes stay more durable and visually consistent in Arizona’s harsh climate, while traditional sand stucco often requires more frequent crack repair and maintenance.
